卡塔尔世界杯英语系列3爆冷平局怎么说德国队能出现

在开篇以前，我们先重温一下在世界杯系列（一）中提到的世界杯的赛制。

在开赛的头半个月，参赛的32支球队要分成8个小组，两两相决，单循环赛。

The first two weeks are the group stage, where the teams are divided into eight groups of four. And everyone plays everyone within their group.

胜者每场将获得3个小组积分，平局则是1个积分，输了就是0分。每小组积分最多的前两名则获得进入下一轮比赛的资格。

You get three points for a win, one for a draw and zero if you lose. The two teams in each group with the most points qualify for the next round.

一、大牌球星（the big names）

And then, the two legendary players: Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of Argentina. Between them, they have dominated the headlines over the last 10 or 15 years. Both incredible players, and both so fit and so committed. They’re both coming into their fifth World Cup. But this maybe their last chance because Messi is 35, Ronaldo is 37.

Which team looks likely to win this trophy? Here goes to strong contender, like Brazil, Spain, England, and Argentina. And of course, there are the defending champions, France.

二、“爆冷”杯（The Upset Cup）

在11月22日，尽管梅西罚进一颗点球（penalty ball），但顽强的沙特阿拉伯在下半场连扳两球，阿根廷队“爆冷”（upset），以1:2输给了沙特阿拉伯队。而在11月23日，德国爆冷1:2输给日本队！11月27日，日本队未能延续对抗德国的神勇状态，0-1输给哥斯达黎加队。至此，本届世界杯变成了“爆冷杯”。

“爆冷门”可以用“upset”表示。

注意这里的“upset”是一个名词，牛津词典的解释为：

[C] ( in a competition 竞赛 ) a situation in which a person or team beats the person or team that was expected to win 意外的结果；爆冷门

⚽例句：Saudi Arabia caused a upset in Qatar World Cup by winning 2:1 against Argentina.

沙特阿拉伯在卡塔尔世界杯上以2:1的比分击败阿根廷队。

三、两场平局（two draws）

The 1st Pick——The heavyweights: Germany against Spain

11月28日，2022年世界杯E组第2轮迎来了一场焦点大战：由2010年世界杯冠军西班牙队对阵2014年世界杯冠军德国队。鏖战全场之后，双方1-1握手言和。

On November 28, the second round of Group E of the 2022 World Cup ushered in a focus war: Spain, the 2010 World Cup champion, played against Germany, the 2014 World Cup champion. After the game, the two sides drew 1-1.

The 2nd Pick——The old rivals: England VS the USA

这些球迷之间有很多健康的“仇恨”，有些人，特别是美国球迷，喜欢把它追溯到300年前。

There’s plenty of healthy animosity between these fans, and some, especially on the American side, like to take it back 300 years.

Part of the beef for the English fans is that the modern football was invented in England, whereas in the States, “soccer” wasn’t considered a major sport until relatively recently.

这两场比赛均为平局。平局可以用“draw”表示。

注意这里的“draw”既可以作动词，也可以作名词，牛津词典的解释为：

[V] to finish a game without either team winning 以平局决胜；不分胜负

[C] a game in which both teams or players finish with the same number of points 平局；和局；不分胜负

⚽例句：Germany drew Spain 1-1. So did England and American. Their match ended in a 0-0 draw.

德国队1-1战平西班牙队，英格兰队和美国队也是如此。他们的比赛以0-0的平局结束。
